More Simple Tips For Weight Loss

Last week we had a few tips for helping you lose weight, should you need to. And let's face it, most of us do need to; the statistics on excess weight in the UK and US bear that out.

Here are a few more simple tips that can help your personal weight loss campaign. If you are serious about losing weight, and have made that important decision to do bring your weight down to healthy levels, you may find these additional tips help you on your way to success. The same is true if you are a good eight, but want to keep it that weight.

Keeping Track of What You Are Eating

Writing down what you are eating during the day will help you focus on those calories. That is something you can do in a diary, or better still use the USDA's nutrition pyramid online, where you can record what you eat and drink. That also helps you to ensure you have a good nutritional balance.

Get Help From Friends and Family, or Join a Support Group

Some people benefit greatly with some moral, and practical, support from those around them. It is best if the whole family can get involved in a healthier diet, and they will benefit too in the long run. Or, some get encouragement from joining support groups like Weight Watchers.

Ask Yourself Why You Eat Too Much of the Wrong Foods

Being overweight can often be caused, or made worse, by emotional eating, rather than the real need to eat. Sometimes, people feel bored, lonely or anxious and instinctive turn to food to give themselves a boost. Often, it is junk food that comes to their rescue. Ask yourself if you eat for those reasons. If so, concentrate on filling in that time more positively, rather than use the wrong food to give yourself a short lived "feel good factor".

Cut Down on Portion Sizes

This can be a relatively easy way to lose some weight, if you are aware enough to make it work for you. Gradually cut down portion sizes when eating, and eat slowly. If you eat a lot and fast, you can be feeding yourself unnecessarily thinking you are hungry. When you eat more slowly, you may find you feel full relatively earlier than before, as your brain gets the message you have eaten enough already. It quickly, and that message may arrive too late.

Consume Psyllium Before a Meal

A very useful food supplement, for providing an 80% soluble natural fiber, is Psyllium husks. They are a great fiber source, will help your bowel movements to become regular, and swell up like a gel when mixed with water. So, they help to cleanse your digestive system, but at they same time, may take the edge off your hunger if you time it right.
